Like snow in summer and like rain in harvest,
So honor is not fitting for a fool.
To fear the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).¬¬ Not to fear the Lord is the beginning of folly. Both call out their invitations. It comes down to choice. If we choose to honor and follow the will of the Lord and follow his ways, we follow the natural order of the world that God created.
If we decide to follow our own path, it might be like snow in the summer, unnatural and opposite to God’s plan. There is only one path. It is the Red Road. It is the Sacred Path-the path of righteousness. The first of the 12 Virtues of walking the Red Road is to Honor the Creator. “Every element of creation expresses the Creator. When looking upon a sunset, the trees, or even your worst enemy, you are looking at the Creator. Know this and give praise and prayer” (12 Ethics of Walking the Red Road).
“Traveling along the path of the Red Road is not an easy one, it is full of disappointments, obstacles, and temptations. But we must continue on it, for we know it is the right path to follow” (Grandma Rosetta, White Eagle, OK).
Honor is not appropriate for a fool.
