"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
What comes to your mind when you think of the cross?
The image of the cross is getting more prevalent as the Lenten season comes near. There are a lot of things that we can think of to associate with the cross. I hope the first and only person that comes to our mind when we see the cross is Christ Jesus.
The bible says that the message of the cross is folly to us. Paul is referring to every sinner like him. Like you and me. It is offensive because it attacks the very nature of us as a human who is always capable of sinning over and over again.
The beauty of this truth is that God made a declaration when He saved us from sins. Because of this, the message of the cross, which was once foolishness, is now understood as the power of God. God is sending an invitation to us to embrace the message of the cross–the message of repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. The cross of Christ is the very power of God once we believe in the finished work of Jesus. The question is, do we believe in the finished work of Christ?
Now the choice is in your hands. What kind of message of the Cross of Christ do you see? Take a moment to reflect on it today.
