April 15, 2018 Daily Devotion
The Lord gives strength to his people;
the Lord blesses his people with peace.
Today's Reading: Psalm 29
The greatest gifts that God gave us are his son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. He gave us an example to follow, and the wisdom and fruits of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit also functions as the fruit-producer in our lives. So how do I find the time to grow my relationship with the Holy Spirit? For me, I awake each morning praising and thanking GOD for another day and the courage to do his will. This sets the tone for my day. I focus on my breathing through the Smile, Breathe, Love meditation: focusing my attention on the present moment through my breath: “Be Here Now.”
Sarah Young in her “Jesus Calling” Daily Devotional reminds us, “Heaven is both present and future. As you walk along your life path holding My hand, you are already in touch with the essence of heaven: nearness to me.” The earth is radiantly alive each day with God’s presence. I witnessed God’s presence this morning while in prayer. A dove landed on the window seal behind me and fluttered its wings-the messenger of Love and Peace.
The dove was the harbinger of peace to Noah (Genesis 8:8 Genesis 8:10). It is a symbol of the Holy Spirit as proclaimed in all four Gospels (Matthew 3:16 ; Mark 1:10 ; Luke 3:22 ; John 1:32). The Holy Spirit begins the work of harvesting His fruit in our lives—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Thank you God for the gifts of your son and the encouragement, wisdom, and fruits of the Holy Spirit.
