The Beginning and The End

Daily Devotion

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation 1:8

Read Revelation 1:1-8

In the book of John, the apostle used the phrase “I am” as the self-identification of Jesus. It is also the same phrase used by His Father while making Himself known to Moses by saying “I Am Who I Am.” Jesus is also the “Alpha and the Omega.” This is a title that applied to both the Father and the Son and it describes their uniqueness. Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet means the “beginning” and omega is the last letter of the Greek alphabet which stands for the “end.” God existed before all time and He will still exist past all the time.

This is the God whom we praise and serve. This the God who always seeks us and invites us to be His children. This is the God whom even though He is the “great I AM,” still humbled Himself through Jesus Christ to redeem us and give us the gift of salvation. This is the God who loves us unconditionally and endlessly. Why do we still keep on running away from God? Why do we still make ourselves the lord over our lives? Why do we still find it difficult to trust God?

May we ponder on this truth today. Let open our hearts to understand deeper who God.

God is the beginning and the end.
