Live With Integrity

Daily Devotion

When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”
John 1:47

Read John 1:43-51

Several months ago, a friend shared her sentiment about “ghost employees.” It is frustrating to see people who do shady things yet get to buy whatever they want, comparing to those who genuinely work hard yet what they earn is still not enough to feed their family. There are a lot of compromises in our world today. It seems like corruption, cheating, and stealing became a norm to our society, and we are so good at justifying it rather than correcting it.

Integrity means doing the right thing when no one is watching. When we do the right thing, God is the one who will keep it up to us. We may gain people, power, or possessions by doing worldly things, but we may lose God who owns everything. We can’t cheat on our taxes and expect God to bless us, we can’t steal from our work and expect God to crown us with favor. God keeps the record of everything we do. We may think none have seen what we’ve done, but God has seen it.

Let us strive to be honorable, and to live with integrity. Be truthful even though what we get is less and let God be the one to bless us. Prosperity and integrity go hand in hand. Prosperity comes when we live with a life of integrity.

Lord, help me live a life that honors you.
