Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying,
"This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!"
Read: Luke 9:28-36
God bestows his blessings on his only begotten son after the Transfiguration in dramatic fashion. What a sight to behold for Peter, James, and John to see the magnificence of Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. “They appeared in glory and spoke of his passage which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem.” God’s timing was perfect and he leaves the apostles awestruck.
Isn’t that how we should feel each and every day? Grateful, appreciative and in awe of the grace and mercy of our Lord, Jesus Christ? Each day we have the opportunity to imitate the life of Jesus and to be guided by the Holy Spirit. Yes, we must make time for Jesus, to run into his arms and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts, words, and actions.
A practical exercise to assist us in nurturing the divine exchange is Smile, Breathe, Love.
Step 1: Put on a “Smile” (and if appropriate take a step back) and say to yourself: “Jesus, I need you.” (Diffuses tension, relaxes the jaw, open to change)
Step 2: Breathe In and Breathe out slowly: calms your mind, relaxes your body and renews your spirit. Gives time for the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts, words, and actions. Disengage from the situation when appropriate. “Jesus, I trust you.”
Step 3: Love: wrap you and the person(s) or situation in the white light of love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and peace. Pray for those who persecute you. “Jesus I love you.”
Imitate the life of Christ and be guided by the Holy Spirit.
Unite all in love for God is love!
