Saul thought he was serving and obeying God by persecuting Christians. While on his way to Damascus to arrest those who belong to the Way, a light from heaven flashed around him. Saul heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting and oppressing me?” Saul asked, “Who are you, Lord?” The response he heard was “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” After this, he could see nothing.
While in Damascus, a believer named Ananias called him “Brother” was used by God to restore his sight. It is followed by Paul’s baptism and from that day forward, he preached the good news that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.
Paul’s personal encounter with Jesus leads to his repentance, faith in Jesus, baptism, fellowship with other believers, and spreading the Good News to others, witnessing for Christ. Our journey might be the same as Paul’s, or we might have not figured out our journey yet. Let us pray for guidance by the Holy Spirit to show us where He wants us to go and how we can reveal the truth to others.
Preach the good news!
