Juntos Podemos: Together We Can

Daily Devotion

The work that I do, you will also do. And even greater works than these, you will do.

Together we can is the motto for the Friends of San Lucas Mission that supports the San Lucas Toliman community along the shore of Lake Aitilan in Guatemala. This Mission began 57 years ago and is stronger than ever. Recently, I traveled to San Lucas with family and friends to host empowerment conferences for the hospital staff and community. As medical providers, we brought no stethoscopes or medications. We brought the Creator's model of healthcare wrapped in Love.

We declared that God is the great physician and prayer is the best medicine. We are all responsible for our health and all life and healing comes from the Great Spirit. We shared the Lakota Indigenous culture with our Mayan Indigenous friends. The parallels are amazing from the foods (corn, squash, and beans) to the reverence for God in prayer and ceremonies. The Lakota medicine wheel symbolizes that all of humanity is related under one God. We enjoyed sharing our gifts and enjoyed a plant based lunch together with our friends. The highlight of the conferences were songs of worship led by Dr. Tun, the medical director. Music is also very good medicine.

Yes we can!
