Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
Read Psalm 8
HUSTLE. I noticed that this word has been very prominent last year. It has been printed in varieties of shirt designs, mugs, caps, etc. Truly enough, this word describes how most of us live. According to Urban Dictionary, the word hustle means "to have the courage, confidence, self-belief, and self-determination to go out there and work it out until you find the opportunities you want in life," and "working hard, usually towards the common goal of creating an income."
God gave us the ability to work and the opportunity to have work to earn money. It is just sad though that there are times when we work too much, making it the priority of our life. I admit, there are a lot of times when I 'hustle'. I am too consumed of the things I have to accomplish for the day. I rarely get to appreciate the things around me. Seeing the sunshine again doesn't mean that much anymore. Seeing the moon doesn't amaze me at all. Seeing flowers along the pathway doesn't look that beautiful as before.
Like David, I also ask God "what is mankind that you are mindful of us, human beings that you care for us (v.4)? We are so blessed and yet we seldom say thank you to You and give you praise." Remembering this verse always makes me stop and try to see all the things around me in a fresh way than before. This makes my heart ask God for humility to be grateful for all the things He has given me, big or small.
I pray that we will not be so consumed with what the world offers us. I hope we will always find time to stop, breathe, and praise God for EVERYTHING. May we bring back all the glory to Him for He deserves all our praise.
