For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Read: John 1:16-18
The Bible is a book filled with laws. The first five books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deutoronomy, are known as the books of the law. These contain laws and instruction given by the Lord through Moses to the Israelites.
In John 1:17, John contrasting Jesus with Moses does not mean that the law is not a gracious gift. The law given through Moses points to grace, but it is Jesus Christ who performs grace.
What we have in Christ is not law, but grace. Law has no heart; the meaning of the Gospel is the unveiling of the heart of God. Grace is love giving. Law demands and grace bestows. The Gospel speaks of Love and Forgiveness. Jesus is all and in all…imitate the life of Jesus through humility, love, and forgiveness. He is the final revelation of God's grace and truth. These are choices we get to make each day.
