Away In The Darkness

April 21, 2018 Daily Devotion

Your word is a lamp for my feet,
    a light on my path.

Read: Psalm 119:105-112

Who but David would best know that following God’s word illuminates our path so we do not stumble? He gives God the glory for his wisdom and the humility to admit that when he was not lightened and ruled by the word of God he lived in darkness. We all have walked in David shoes. We do not have to stay in the darkness. Each day we make a choice to be thankful, praise God and imitate the life of Jesus through humility, love, and forgiveness.
Sure we are faced with many challenges that test our faith. Spiritual warfare through deception, temptation, and accusation are the devil’s lies to promote guilt and feelings of unworthiness. He is the master of disguise. I always enjoy invoking the name of Jesus Christ when I feel the evil one’s presence. “In the name of Jesus Christ, stand behind me Satan.” He cowers with the mere thought of Jesus Christ.
Our best defense is a pro-active offense; grounded in scripture, lived each day surrounded by the love of God. “You will be my people and I will be your God.” (Jeremiah 30:22).
Each day is a new beginning and let us live each day sacred.

We do not have to stay in the darkness. Each day is an opportunity to make a choice that leads to God.
