In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned
Read: Titus 2
Who is your role model?
A question that you can answer right away. The answer could be your parents who raised you up to be a good son or daughter, your grade school teacher who taught you to dream big for your future or your friend who has been very successful in his field.
It is one thing to share who is your role model but it’s another thing to be a role model. Being a good example sometimes puts pressure on us to strive more than our limitation. We go out of our comfort zone and try to display a good image people are expecting from us. But it is also another thing if we are setting our self as a good example and it is demonstrated out of love.
Our passage today is about Paul giving instructions to Titus. This instruction is not for Titus alone but also to the church leaders during that time. He said that in everything, set an example to do good. Moreover, Paul is telling Titus to be good not only every Sunday but in every single day of his life. He also added that in his teaching, he should show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned (v. 8). In other words, he is giving an instruction to Titus to live a life of honor and good character in serving God and His people.
On our own ability, we cannot live a life that brings honor and glory to God at all times. The good thing about our God is He sends His Spirit who helps us live a holy and pleasing life. A life that serves a good role model to a world which needs to see that there is a living God—a God who can transform our lives into a new and living life that brings glory and honor to Him.
Choose to be a role model to someone today.
Let us pray for grace and wisdom to be an example worth following.
