that is, in Christ God was reconciling[a] the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
Two things that you might probably feel when your parents left you at home during your younger years—Pleasure and Pressure. The pleasure that you can do anything you want at home, watch television all day long, feast in the food in the fridge, or invite your friends to come over and play all around. The pressure that you need to do the chores that your parents instructed you to do, tasks that need to be done before they arrive, things that were entrusted to you that need to be delivered before your time of pleasure runs out.
The pleasure over the pressure? Or the pressure over the pleasure?
When Christ came here on earth to accomplish His mission to redeem humanity from sin and death, He entrusted us a message that sometimes we missed to grasp.
The bible says that in Christ, He was reconciling the world to Himself. That is the message. God initiating the reconciliation of humanity to His kingdom. Because of our trespasses, we broke our relationship with God and we were set apart to His presence.
But because He is a loving God, He sent His son Jesus to die for our sins to reconcile our broken relationship, making it whole once again, not counting our trespasses. So now we can come freely to His presence in worship knowing that God would hear and come to us in times of need. That is the message of reconciliation. The message of the Gospel.
God wants you to encounter this message. God is calling you to be reconciled to Him. This is the message that He entrusted you to embrace and live every single day.
Is this message a pleasure for you to enjoy or a pressure to you to live by? Ask yourself today.
