For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
This verse is one of the most popular Scriptures that most people have taken granted for. God loved. God gave. God gave two beautiful action words in this passage. Loved and gave.
Loving and giving, two words that have an overlapping definition. Action words that if only we will embrace in view of God’s eyes, we will have a different way of living.
When we love someone, it is always a default mode that we want to give something to them. The same breath that when we give, it means we love the person, and most of the time we are expecting something in return. However, sometimes we think that it’s a cause and effect business.
But not with God. When He loved the world, He gave even if He didn’t receive in return. The bible says, "God loved the world that HE gave,” NOT "when people loved God, then He gave...”
God’s motivation to give Jesus is His unmeasurable love for us. The amazing thing about God is He gave so that we can be saved from sin yet He didn’t ask anything. He just wants us to receive it as a gift. He wants us to receive Jesus Christ.
The question now is would you dare to believe in Jesus, the Person that God gave for us? He gave Christ so that we should not perish but have eternal life.
Believe in this gift of grace. Believe in the gift of God. Believe in the person of Jesus Christ.
